If I could give negative stars, I would. This judge goes out of her way to help the state. There is a saying: If you want to know what a person is like, see how she treats her inferiors. This judge attacks those she thinks are weak, and only respects those with political power. "Fair and impartial" she is not.
I was a Prosecutor in her court several years ago. This judge is the worst in the courthouse. She pretends to know the law, but she really does not. And the Prosecution Bar is in love with Judge Hohengarten because we could always count on her to render rulings in the Prosecutor's favor whenever we were screwed up, and it was looking like the Defense was winning. She almost always rules in favor of the Caucasian defense lawyers who give her campaign contributions. She ignores minority lawyers no matter how prolific and well-regarded, and she systematically pours out defendants from the Black and Latin neighborhoods, from the poor side of town. She has never held a fund raiser on the East side, or on the Southeast side of town. She stinks of white privileged. She is a Prosecutor's Judge: an innocent person will likely be convicted if you have a trial in her court. She likes to say that its ok if an innocent person is wrongly convicted because it's just a little old misdemeanor and nobody is going to prison. She is a joke for a jurist, but wow can she throw a mean house party for the Democrat party big-wigs in the fancy part of town. I'm glad I've graduated to the felony courts. Her brand of justice was really hard to stomach. Pitiful.
