She is totally unprofessional and mean-spirited at heart. She doesn't really care about what people involved in her cases at all. what she more so cares about is exercising her authority to humiliate and cause others, lawyers, court reporters, and parties to the action, to feel very inferior to her authority as a judge. So glad when she retired, as this is a tremendous occurrence for everyone who had the misfortune to have to work with this woman in her court.
Judge Bonnicaro seems very ill prepared from hearing to hearing having to be reminded who is in the courtroom and where things were left off. She does not appear to follow customary procedure or even the law. I personally have been very disappointed with her.
her honor seems to act quickly with her emotions when it comes to her cases. it doesn't seem like she reads the case file at all. she takes every one's word for it. and people lie straight to her face.
this judge is a tremendous advocate for Texas children from troubled families. my understanding as an in-home family therapist is that a judge working with child protective service cases is allowed to make decisions based on legal concepts of preponderance of evidence and reason to believe. I've seen this judge support many parents who were working towards making safe and healthy family situations for their children. And I've seen her warn and take action with families who do not improve high risk situations in their families. I have observed her to be intelligent, prepared, and totally present for the many, many cases she works with. Texas is fortunate to have such a hard-working and effective family court judge.
