In Johnson County the judges always appoint a local attorney as an amicus. These local attorneys know that the judge will do what they recommend. Why have a judge I ask? I had a case where the parties were separated for two years and dad paid no support. Mom loses job as finance manager and can only find comparable job in Amarillo. The dad files for divorce and this judge tells mom that if she wants to keep custody she needs to come back to Johnson County. In other words if she sat on her butt and collected unemployment she keeps her daughter but since she moved to keep working bc dad was paying no support she loses custody Sad sad day.
