Judge Bailey is one of the best judges I have ever practiced in front of. He truly cares about the children and parties in his case and takes the time to read and research each file in every case I have before him. He is a uniquely caring judge. The negative commenters on here are obviously disgruntled parties or attorneys who do not prepare for court or have little respect for judicial procedures and get reprimanded for their insolence, as they should. Successful law students learn judicial respect in their first year.

I have practiced in front of Judge Bailey numerous times. Each time that I have had a hearing in front of him, I felt as if my client and I received a fair trial. Judge Bailey has always been knowledgable, fair, and efficient when I have been in his court. As an attorney, I have noticed that there are days when Judge Bailey is the only judge in the courthouse, and he is always willing to do things for other courts. He also works late nights and weekends to help attorneys, clients, and jurors. He is a great asset to our judiciary.

Steven Weinstein is running against Bailey in an election and is probably behind 95% of all the post on here. He is creating fake profiles on Facebook and making them appear to be supporters of his election. This man is a complete fraud and would be scared to see him as a judge in Denton.

I have know Jonathan for many years and in my opinion is a great Judge. He is "no nonsense" which I like. If you are honest and prepared you will have no problem with him, but if you are not you will. I have tried many cases in his court and got a fair trial in every one. He is the kind of Judge everyone should want in office.

I was involved in a case that went through judge Bailey's Court. My case should have been thrown out from the beginig. Because of the nepotism that goes on in Denton county the odds are against you. Judge bailey saw through the bull and threw the case out instead of having a jury trial he spoke with the DA's in the back room and talked to them about their bs they pulled. This judge has balls to me and is what we need in Denton County were the little guy gets screwed, thank you judge bailey for doing your job the right way we need fair judges like you in Denton County

My personal experience with Judge Bailey is very different than most of the posts I have reviewed. I have found Judge Bailey to be prepared not only the pleadings of my cases well before the time of my hearings, but also on the law upon which he was ruling. He has always been available to hear my cases and has been timely in making rulings thereafter. My clients and I have found Judge Bailey to be nothing but professional. My experience is that he has rendered rulings (which haven't always gone my way) which he believed were justified. While he does have a different demeanor than many litigants or young attorneys may have encountered elsewhere, he simply doesn't suffer fools, half-truths or unprepared counsel. I have been practicing for over 23 years, and when I started practice in Denton County I found several of the older Judges to be what you might call "stern" or "strict" in what they expected of attorneys in their court. As such, I tailored my practice to meet their expectations. In turn, I have never had any serious problem with any Denton County Judge, particularly Judge Bailey. Judges should expect attorneys and their clients to be forthright with the court. That is not always the case with today's legal practice. I feel that most of the complaining I see above is another example of the "entitlement" era where no litigant or attorney is responsible for his or her own bad outcome, and it's always someone else's fault. It clearly appears that most of the negative comments were on the losing side of a case. Judge Bailey hears hundreds of cases each year, many which have a winner and a loser. My guess is that there are not many of the winning litigants or attorneys making these negative comments about him. He calls it as he sees it, and at least has the courtesy to let you know how he sees it in open court and not behind the locked doors of his judicial office. It is my belief that as long as you are qualified, prepared, and professional in his court, then there shouldn't be any problems. The outcome may or may not be to your liking, but your day in court will be what you truly deserve.

I have been practicing law for more than forty-five and been board certified in family law by the State Bar of Texas for forty years. I have tried many cases in court and been selected to serve on every Texas Supreme Court committee that recommended guidelines for possession of children and for child support. Having seen a lot of judges at every level during that time, I believe Judge Bailey is high on the list when you review judges’ legal ability. Judge Bailey has been knowledgeable and prepared on the numerous cases my clients have had in his court. I have also observed Judge Bailey’s preparation in other cases while waiting for my clients’ cases to be reached. Judge Bailey has appeared to be prepared on legal issues that were important to the case before him before either attorney ever mentioned those issues. I have read the negative comments that unhappy individuals have posted. It is important to know that, when Judge Bailey was appointed, the other courts transferred large numbers of cases to Judge Bailey’s court. Many of the cases transferred were the hardest, most contentious cases. Those are cases in which litigants are going to be unhappy. Judge Bailey has worked long hours to handle those cases. It appears from the comments that many of those individuals were not prepared and their issues were poorly presented with little evidence to support their positions. This has resulted in these individuals being unhappy, but those facts are not within the control of any judge. The last thing anyone ought to want is for someone to bring frivolous or unsubstantiated claims to court and be successful. Looking at this campaign, the conduct of Mr. Weinstein ought to be the last thing anyone wants in a judge. Mr. Weinstein’s attempt to destroy campaign material of Judge Bailey at the Republican Lincoln Day dinner is despicable conduct (for which Mr. Weinstein seeks to avoid responsibility for by claiming it was an error in judgment.). If that is the kind of judgment Mr. Weinstein possesses, I hope none of my clients ever have to rely on his judgment. Mr. Weinstein also claims to be an experienced attorney. I have spoken with numerous attorneys who have practiced in Denton County for many years. I estimate the total years of practice of those attorneys to be in the vicinity of 400 years of practice in Denton County. Not a single one of those attorneys knew anything about Mr. Weinstein before this campaign. Unlike Judge Bailey, who was a Denton County attorney prior to taking the bench, if Mr Weinstein has any significant experience, it was not in Denton County. Frankly, based on what I have seen, I doubt many of the claims he makes. I urge voters not to reward political tactics of Mr. Weinstein. I believe Judge Bailey, with his Denton County history, his work ethic, and his legal knowledge, deserves to be re-elected, and I hope you will join me in voting for Judge Bailey.

After 28 years of practicing law, I have been before many judges, many who were fair and some who were not. I have practiced before Judge Bailey since he took the bench on a multitude of different civil trial matters. Judge Bailey is prepared, fair and not afraid to make tough decisions (that some may not like, but need to be made nonetheless). My advice: show up prepared and don't waste his time and you won't have a problem. In my experience, show up unprepared, take ridiculous positions, waste his time, be disrespectful, lie to him, etc. and you will. Basically, he will hold you accountable for your conduct.
