Absolutely disgusting demonstration of white privilege in the courtroom. Someone PLEASE start a petition to get this racist misogynist OFF the bench.

Gave a rapist only 6 months. When he should of gotten 10 years.

I am not a party in this trial, however I am a concerned citizen who is appalled that a convicted rapist was only sentenced to 6 months in county jail.

1

How this ruling (and judge) can stand is way beyond me. This needs to be investigated and the judge needs to be removed

1

5725. other

He's just as guilty as the rapist for letting him walk free and clear. Horrible, immoral conduct.

1

5723. other

The raped got a life sentence and her wounding is treated like it was, somehow, an accident. This is a disgusting dismissal of the horror or rape and the fact the young man chose to rape does not show the character of someone I want around my daughters in 6 months.

A true hero to rapists and abusers everywhere, the "Honorable" Judge Aaron Persky, will uphold the bare minimum of the law, so that abusers won't be to badly impacted by having to take responsibility for their crimes! And you doubted the justice system. Didn't you know if you can swim, like really, really fast, you can irreparably damage someone's life by raping them and get a slap on the wrist? Congratulations Judge, you have demonstrated rape culture and it's abhorrent hold on society. You should be ashamed of yourself.

1

5729. other

6 months for rape?!!!! What if it was his daughter, wife, or mother? Would he still feel that 6 months was enough? He should be in jail with the rapist. He has made a mockery of the judicial system

1

5732. other

Aaron Persky is a disgrace to society. Allowing a rapist only 6 months in jail, giving him a lighter sentence because of the impact it make take on him. Well guess what, a woman is now dealing with her rape for the rest of her life. You don't think that is a severe impact on the victims life? I just don't understand. Two witnesses saw him having sex with an unconscious woman and although he was seen as guilty, you give him a shorter sentence because of the impact? Victims need justice, and you should quit your job.

1

5737. other

A full investigation should be conducted into his past rulings, finances, drinking habits, marriage, family members, sexual proclivities... He should have the "judgement" to resign before he's thrown off the bench.

1

5759. other

Basing sentencing on how fast someone can swim, reducing a sentence for a rapist because of the negative effect it would have on HIS life? This judge shouldn't be sitting.

1

5753. other

I'm a private citizen, dismayed that this judge concluded anything longer than a six-month sentence would severely impact Brock Turner. This conclusion encapsulates the privilege of men like Turner in our society, at the expense of their victims and at the expense of equal treatment under the law (if Turner had not been white and privileged, he would not likely have enjoyed such leniency). The woman Turner raped is severely impacted permanently by Turner's violating act. It is wrong for a judge to downplay the severity of such a violation just because treating him with appropriate severity would negatively impact his life's ambitions. It's a clear case of privileging his life over the victim's, and it is wrong.

I am deeply disgusted by the sentencing of Brock Turner. We are in 2016 and you still don't really think he did anything wrong. 6 months? You should resign.

1

5740. other

This judge just sentenced a 23 year old man who raped an unconscious woman behind a dumpster, who was duly convicted of three felonies, to six months in county jail and probation. Why? To lessen the impact on the rapist's life. *This* is a judge this county wants on the bench?

1

5745. other

Perpetuates rape culture and is harmful to the progression of a safe court environment for victims

1

5806. attorney (government, criminal matters)

Shocked at the incompetence of this man. Remove him from the bench immediately.

1

5736. other

This judge, who is apparently a Stanford graduate, gave a bare-minimum sentence to a rapist who is also a Stanford graduate. A bit suspicious. The rape victim received a life sentence. Her rapist received 6 months because this judge feels that any longer would negatively impact the rapist's life. This is not justice.

1

5769. attorney (non-profit practice)

Any judge that would give a rapist a six month sentence to avoid doing "damage" to him is unfit to serve. He should be removed from the bench.

1

5733. other

This judge should be thrown off the bench. He's allowed a predator to have another shot at victimizing women in the future. Studies have shown that there is a high rate of recidivism amongst sex offenders, but why would that matter to a judge right? Maybe this judge will tell the next victim that public safety and victim's rights are secondary to a rich, white athlete having not being affected negatively by destroying someone's life. Aaron Persky, you disgust me. Please step down because you are everything wrong with the judicial system.

1

5747. other

I hope your court decision making doesn't "severely impact" your future as a judge. You allowed a rapist to go free without question. You overturned 14 years and gave a measly 6 months. Had he impregnated his victim - that child wouldn't even be born before he was breathing fresh air again. Shame on you.

1

5779. other

Im appalled with his decision to only grant 6 months imprisionment to county jail for Brock turner, a rapist who was found guilty by the jurors! We all look up to Judges who is at that position to give justice to everyone indifferent to social class, yet he took into account that giving Brock turner harsh punishment would have severe impact on his life since he is an athlete ( swimmer ) This is the example you set for citizens? You are not ready for this position!

1

5797. other

6 months for his crime is ridiculous. This is the Epitome of the two tiered justice system. This is 100% a miscarriage of justice. We live in a society where a man can be arrested for killing a rapist whilst he was trying to rape the mans WIFE; a man can be arrested for killing the pervert whom he caught molesting his son; yet you can get a slap on the wrist for raping a woman because "A prison sentence would have a severe impact on him..."and the judge thinks that "he will not be a danger to others". I hope the people of your district vote you OUT.

1

5804. other

“A prison sentence would have a severe impact on him … I think he will not be a danger to others.” Six months jail time for a rapist who was found guilty by a jury is unthinkable and hardly begins to serve justice. Judge Persky is not fit to fill the honorable position of a judge, as he clearly cares more for the perpetrator of the crime than the victim. Judges like Persky perpetuate rape culture and are part of the reason that so many do not report being assaulted in the first place. No justice.

1

5742. other

I am not a party in this case but I am just blown out by the sentence the judge gave during this hearing. Giving 6 months for rape because the defendant was a well educated (not so much) privileged white athlete is racist and mysogynistic!

1

5743. other

He allowed a rapist to basically go free. Rape is a serious crime that deserves a serious punishment.

1

5762. other

No stars for a judge that favours a convicted rapist over his victim and gives 6 months out of a maximum 14 years for a rapist who didn't even admit it, let alone show remorse. Clearly a misogynist who should not have the power to make these decisions. Note that I am not a party in this trial, and am only commenting as a decent, concerned member of society, which this judge clearly is not.

1

5789. other

This judge is worried about how prison would effect this monster, but what about the young victim????There should be a public outcry in this community to have this judge disciplined and removed from the bench.

1

5770. other

I have read about judges who abuse their power or make unwise and unjust decisions. This judge thought that justice would be done by giving a man a six months as punishment for sexually assaulting a young woman. This is not a judge who should be making more decisions.

1

5780. other

Absolutely disgusting man who clearly has no idea how to do his job. Giving a rapist 6 months because "it might ruin his future" is ridiculous. This is a pathetic excuse. If he didn't want his future to be over, he shouldn't have raped someone.

1

5802. other

Judge Person let a rapist off with a 6 month sentence when prosecutors were asking for 6 years. He thinks that prison would harm the RAPIST too much. He spits in the faces of rape victims everywhere and does not deserve to be in a courtroom.

1

5741. other

Rape is murder of the soul, shame on you for placing a convicted rapists feelings before the victim.

1

5768. other

A judge that reduces a sentence of 14 years to 6 months because it will have a "severe impact" on the criminal, at best, does not understand the very basis of a state having a constitution and creating consequences for criminals. At worst, (and most likely) he has accepted a large sum of bribe from the defendant's family and is creating a corrupt legal system that is a danger to the society. Remember to throw him out, because tomorrow it could be you.

1

5781. witness

How is it that sentencing that man to 6 months is okay? I'm going to assume this man doesn't have a daughter, because if he did he would know better than to let someone get off so easy. I'll personally sign a petition to remove him.

1

5783. other

This judge has given the most outrageous display of leniency for sex offending behavior I am yet to see. 6 months of county jail for a proven rapist because "he's concerned about the impact of his sentence on the boy’s life"? Flat out ludicrous, that’s what it is.

1

5784. other

What Brock Allen Turner did was not an innocent schoolboy prank. He is an unrepentant sexual predator. The fact that he is good at swimming does not mean that his life is worth more than anyone else's, least of all the woman he assaulted. He should not have gotten a pass and been let off easy.

1

5746. other

6 months of jail time is a shameful sentence to give to someone who deserves the 14 year of sentence. It's such a disgrace to have Persky represent the Santa Clara county.

1

5752. other

Could not find a rating less than one star for this idiot.

1

5771. other

Absolute disgrace to the profession. Replace this rapist sympathizer with someone who understands that the punishment must fit the crime.

1

5776. other

Allowing a known rapist to obtain 6 mos in jail and probation is absolutely absurd! The "good ole boys" attitude prevails and the victim is left with nothing. Persky needs to go, shame on him!

1

5778. other

Can I give him a 0 or a negative? He gave Brock Turner a ridiculously lenient sentence. White, rich privilege being rewarded is not justice. This idiot should not be a judge.

1

5794. other

This is unacceptable. So unacceptable it's hard to know where to begin. Persky's own statements reveal a lack of any sense of justice or understanding of not only law but the long term consequences not only for the young woman involved but to any woman in this position. BA Turner shows himself to be an unrepentant predator with a complete lack of cognizance of his actions. Persky is in NO position to be judging others.

1

5796. other

I am appalled at the complicity that this judge has shown in a brutal rape case; to decree a slap on the wrist because “A prison sentence would have a severe impact on him … I think he will not be a danger to others.” Statistics show that serial rapists have a high rate of recidivism. Six months in jail for a crime of violence is unconscionable; this judge should be disbarred immediately.

1

5803. other

Six month sentence for a man raping an unconscious woman. Disgraceful judgement on criminal behavior. Sexism, incompetence or corruption? You be the judge.

1

5738. other

I am absolutely appalled by this Judge. He obviously had no compassion for the victim of a very heinous crime. Shame on on him and Santa Clara County.

1

5748. other

The gross miscarriage of justice in Brock Turner's case speaks volumes on this judge's inability to see reality. Get him off the bench!

1

5757. other

I am horrified at the sentence this judge gave for a case of blatant rape on a campus. A young man's "promising future" is irrelevant to punishment for past deeds. There must be equal consequences. That young woman will live with that for the rest of her life. The mild sentence sends a message of tolerance for sexual violence. I am disgusted.

1

5774. other

This judge sentenced a rapist to 6 months in order to lessen the impact on his life. This is exactly the kind of thinking that perpetuates rape culture by prioritizing perpetrators and ignoring the needs of survivors. This is the opposite of justice and this man needs to be removed from his position.

1

5782. other

He's a worthless piece of excrement that has no empathy for women who've been raped or sexually assaulted. I hope the shame brought upon you is 100x worse than the pain rapist Brock Allen Turner brought upon his rape victim.

1

5788. other

Remove him from the bench. He is more concerned with the future of a convicted rapist than the actual victim. Disgusting. Clearly he is swayed by money and not justice.

1

5814. other

Six months (perhaps as low as three served) for Brock Turner????? One really has to wonder about the past of such an unrepentant scumbag judge. Sure seems like Aaron Persky understands and/or condones raping unconscious women.

1

5790. other

I am a retired Behavioral Health Specialist for the Army, I respect the justice system and the folks appointed to govern this country. However, a judge in this high of a position needs to be unbiased, and that is the issue I see. It's as if he's ignoring the years of school and experience he has and using a biased opinion in his sentencing process. That is why I am rating him with one star.

1

5798. other

Shouldn't be handing out verdicts if he believes a rapist deserves only 6 months or less in jail.

1

5808. other

Seems to me this judge should have recused himself from the bench because as an alumni of Stanford he is clearly biased mitigating the sentence of this former Stanford student rapist. His reasoning for the lighter punishment made little sense since the perpetrator objectively showed no remorse, nor did his defense attorney....he has without question sent people to prison for longer for lesser crimes. Vote him out!

1

5775. attorney (private practice)

Gives unfair preference to affluent white males. Gives unfair preference to Stamford students. Has no respect or appreciation for the seriousness of rape. Disregards the decision of a jury in order to protect an affluent white male Stamford student.

1

5739. other

This judge likes to give criminals easy sentencing for horrendous crimes. Absolutely disgusting ruling, all because he favors Stanford.

1

5791. other

6 months for brutal rape?? COME ON!!

1

5799. other

Dishonorable Aaron Persky should have seen what was going on in his courtroom, as it was happening. The woman who was raped by Brock Turner should not have had to pen the letter she read to the courtroom after he was sentenced. Sentencing should not be based on whether it would put a wrinkle in the future goals of a convicted rapist - someone who was found having sex with an unconscious woman and who ran off and had to be chased down, because he knew he was raping her, he knew it was wrong, and he knew he was guilty of it. Sentencing should be based on whether or not the rapist can ever be trusted out in society without mommy-parol-officer breathing down their neck 24/7. The honorable thing to do would be to look at the facts. Fact. She was too drunk to consent to make out, and then passed out, and was unable to consent to sex. Fact. She did not give consent, yet he made the choice to drag her outside, hide her behind a dumpster, and have sex with her until he was stopped by two witnesses and tried to run away because he knew it was sex with an unconscious woman. Fact. He raped her. Fact. He kept changing his story about what happened. Fact. He can not ever be trusted to be alone out in society. Fact. He gave her PTSD (diagnosed or not - the symptoms are all there), and that is a life-long sentence. Fact. Rape is not something you learn not to do through trial and error. Fact. He is old enough to fight for his country, he is old enough to know not to rape. Fact. He belongs in prison for life, at the very least. And yet the dishonorable judge Aaron Persky ignored all of these facts. By the witness testimony alone, Brock should have been immediately convicted of his crime. His victim should not have been put through a year of hell, while being treated like a criminal just because he decided to rape her. He didn't just pick out the drunkest girl in the room, he targeted that person because he knew that his victim would be pressured not to press charges because she was drunk at the time (even though her being drunk didn't excuse his raping her) and at a party at the time (even though her being at a party didn't excuse his raping her). He knew that if she pressed charges, he could send his friends, family, coworkers, or anyone else who thought they "knew" him "so well," to pressure her to drop them, even threaten or abuse her if she said "No." He knew that if it went to court, his expensive lawyer would attempt to trick her into making it look like she had consented, even though she was known to have been unconscious at the time. He knew that, even if he was convicted, the judge (Persky) would hear his whining about his "Olympic aspirations" and side with him instead of with his victim, who he could easily have killed if not stopped in time. He knew that his victim would endure the most suffering, and that he would get off easy, one way or another, because he knew that he most likely would get a male judge who would side with his coddled male butt, and he would get off easy. And that's exactly what happened. Judge Aaron Persky is not honorable. He is a chauvinist and is despicable. Even when a woman is absolutely 100% raped, no question about it, she still can not get the justice she seeks, in the United States of America, because of judges like Aaron Persky who do not use good judgement at all. Instead, they use their positions of authority to hold women down and ruin our lives. Voters: Please do not allow Dishonorable Judge Aaron Persky to have another term in any legal position. Any judge who would so easily dismiss the horrendous raping actions of Brock Turner against a woman who did not consent to sex nor force her attacker to have sex with her, who was unconscious the whole time, does not deserve to either judge nor be a lawyer, nor an arbiter.

1

5805. other

6 Months for a rapist? Yeah we don't need any more old white men serving justice, they don't have ANYONE's best interest in mind....

1

5750. other

He does not represent the justice system that is needed in America.

1

5777. other

There is absolutely nothing honorable about this man. He's a coward and should have done the right thing instead of sentencing Brock Turner to six months in County jail.

1

5795. other

If I could, I would rate him no stars. His disgusting decision-making skills result in dangerous implications for the victims of rape and sexual assault, and his lack of tact should be a signal to the fact that he deserves no place in the court of law.

1

5751. other

This judge should not be on the bench. A 6 month sentence for a rapist convicted of three felonies? Oh but they went to the same school, and a longer period in jail might, in this judge's words, have a “severe impact” on the rapist. Never mind the impact on the victim of being raped behind a dumpster, and penetrated by a foreign object. Is this who we want distributing justice in our communities?

1

5763. other

Let a rapist off with a 6 month sentence he sympathises with rapists how can we let him on the bench at all???get him off the disgusting person

1

Only six months for the Turner case? Disgusting.

1

5734. other

This judge is the problem in this country with crime. It shows he is a criminal advocate. Why are these judges not brought to trial for there total disregard for the laws that they are to enforce in the name of the law ? Are there no standards or authorities that he needs to account up to ? Is he free to toss the law aside & make his own rules or moral ethics ??? I personally would have put him & not the guilty rapist into jail in that rapist's place. He is much more guilty of her rape than either the sick rapist or the drunken victim !!! I hope that there is a GOD & he steps in afterword.

1

5744. other

Disgusting. Must've been handed some money on the side.

1

I did start a petition to make residents of Santa Clara aware that this monster is up for re-election this Tuesday and can be given consequences for this, as well as sending a message to other judges that this won't be tolerated. Go to change dot org and search for Aaron Persky (it won't let me link.)

1

5760. other

He allowed a rapist to basically go free. That is the only thing to say, disgusting!!

1

5761. other

No stars for you sir. 6 months in prison for a convicted rapist, found guilty by a jury, is reprehensible.

1

5764. other

Shame on you Judge Persky! You're not fit to be a judge.

1

5773. other

Remove him from the bench. Disgusting. I pray he has no daughters.

1

5787. other

Please do not vote for Mr. Persky on Tuesday. Mr. Persky needs a refresher course on sentencing. The punisment should fit the crime. I guess if you go to Stanford and can swim fast Mr. Persky is your Judge.

1

5793. other

This guy gave a rapist a 6 month sentence because he didn't want to harm his life.... What about the woman who couldn't consent? What about the woman with vaginal trauma from what he did? Yes he is young, but 19 is old enough to know that a drunk woman cannot give consent. Especially someone you don't know. This judge is disgusting and does not fight for justice.

1

5813. other

Allowed a convicted rapist to serve less than the minimal sentence for non legal reasons. I'm disappointed this man has so few bad ratings.

1

5816. other

What a joke. This judge should be put under review for a laughable sentence. I bet if the victim were his daughter he's suggest a much harsher penalty.

1

5817. other

After being raped while unconscious, being probed and examined for hours by medical staff, having to read about her attack in the papers, and then having to break the awful news to her parents would have taken most women down. Add the humiliation of the trial where SHE is put on the hot seat, and then after finally getting the appropriate verdict, this "judge" impose a sentence of less than a year because it "would have a severe impact" on the RAPIST! There are no words, just moral outrage that a Superior Court Judge would show such blatant disregard for the victim, but such care and concern for the villain. His slap on the wrist to the rapist speaks volumes and hopefully, this will be the last opportunity for this man in power to allow another criminal to be back on the streets eager and anxiously awaiting their next prey!

1

5818. other

Disgusting demonstration of white, upper-class privilege. Giving a rapist 6 months in jail. This judge needs to be removed from the bench.

1

5834. other

I am speaking out regarding the decision to offer a convicted rapist a mere 3 months in JAIL for sexually assaulting an unconscious female. I work as a licensed substances abuse counselor. My clientele is made up of individuals on Federal and State parole, probation, and pre-trial. We work using the evidence based Moral Reconation Therapy to help these individuals learn to take responsibility for their actions in order to rebuild their lives. Our goal is to lower recidivism. You, sir, have just set that back years. You are telling this reprehensible young man that he not only does not need to take responsibility for his actions, he has an excuse to do this sort of thing again. Shame on you! I'm sure your mother/grandmother/wife/daughter/grand daughter are very proud of the stance you have just taken against women. I'm disgusted.

1

5836. other

Dissapointing that a judge would give such a light sentence to such an unrepentant criminal. DO NOT REELECT HIM.

1

5755. other

How. Could. You. Really? Has being in this position forced you to lose all perspective on life's core values? Wake up. Pay attention. Listen to her. We need your SUPPORT!!! This ruling is simply rotten. Zero stars. So dark, I can hardly fathom.

1

5765. other

Shame on you Judge Persky! You're not fit to be a judge.

1

5785. other

Disgusting fool.

1

5801. other

As a judge you are to recognize your own biases and act accordingly. To awknowledge that you and the accused share the same alma matter should signal a conflict of interest. It is appalling that you would simply slap this joy on the wrist for a violent sexual assault crime. Because what, you both are brothers through Sanford? I am certain you have seen cases of rape with African American, not college educated assaulters. And I am sure you have sentenced them to longer than 6 months. Way to make Californian women feel safe... Sexual offenders areboften repeat offeders, he will rape again. And it will be the fault of your own. For allowing him back into the streets.

1

5812. other

I wonder if the judge would feel the same way if it were his daughter raped? Maybe he would. I wonder if the sentence would be the same if this were an African American man? Has the judge stopped to consider the "impact" this act has had on the female victim? What kind of message this sends to men out there who force themselves on women? This judge needs to be impeached, his law license suspended pending an investigation. He his a prime example of why our justice system fails anyone without money or connections and those with black or brown skin. Shameful abuse of power.

1

5815. other

You are absolute garbage for sentencing a man who raped an unconscious girl to only 6 months. It is unbelievable that you think his life is more important than the victim's. Shame on you.

1

5819. other

Lots of empathy for an unapologetic rapist, not nearly enough for the victim. Horrible judgement.

1

5857. other

An excellent pro-rape judge! If you're rich, white, and privileged then this is the judge you want if you get caught!

1

5754. other

This judge should taken off the bench that is for sure. How dare he give this rapist only 6 months for such a hannis crime. Was he paid off? A longer sentence would have had severe impact? Isnt that the idea? Put the judge in jail too.

1

5767. witness

Not very good at using his brain.

1

5786. other

Disgusting fool.

1

5809. other

Disgusted and appalled with this dishonorable judge and a petition is being formed to remove him from the bench. Rape is okay as long as you are white and privileged. I am a white person of privilege, and could not be more disgusted or appalled with the decisions and rulings of this judge. Women are expected to come forward and to testify and prosecute these offenders. What is the point when judges such as these are allowed to continue? Legal system has failed justice once again. Shame on Dishonorable Aaron Persky.

1

5810. other

This is a slap in the face of the young lady raped. This judge should be removed for this verdict.

1

5811. other

Disgusting to give a convicted rapist only 6 months because of the impact it might have on him. The rapist did not have any concern as to the impact upon his victim. This is outrageous.

1

5820. other

Shame on you, Persky.

1

5821. other

Judge Persky perpetuates rape culture by giving a rapist only 6 months in jail due to the fact he did not want to negatively "impact" the rapist's swimming career. Nevermind the victim and how she will forever deal with what this man did to her..

1

5829. other

The sentence given to the Stanford Swimmer Rapist is an absolute miscarriage of Justice. Since when should the perpetrator of such a violent and freely-chosen crime be given such an obscene amount of consideration? The Prosecution asked for half the time that his crimes otherwise entailed and this wasn't enough of a concession? Truly Heartless and Unconscionable

1

5830. other

This judge should be ashamed of himself. Giving a rapist who does not even regret for his horrible crime against a woman a 6-month sentence is unacceptable.

1

5832. other

This judge is literally everything that is wrong with our justice system. He ensures the upholding of white (male) supremacy and rape culture. An utter and repugnant disgrace.

1

5833. other

You gave Brock a 6 month sentence because "a prison sentence would have a severe impact on him". What about the severe impact his actions had on another human? Impact that will affect and haunt her for the rest of her life?! Absolutely despicable and proof that you do not deserve reelection, or election in the first place for you clearly have no ability to properly uphold the law without influence from factors such as social status and sex.

1

5835. other

Unacceptable favoritism. Let a very guilty rapist off the hook with a below the minimum sentence despite a guilty verdict. No matter is someone is young or old, whiter black, drunk or sober, first time offender or repeater, they deserve to go to jail and pay for their actions for a looooong time.

1

5837. other

Disgusted by the 6month sentence given for the sexual assault in Stanford. You prove that there can not be any trust to the law system anymore. Your job is supposed to be fair and don't take decisions according to somebody's status, family background and personal achievements in any sport..

1

5838. other

Privilege at its worst. Lenient on sexual assault when it's done by rich white dudes who are good at swimming. Not good enough.

1

5846. other

Get this guy OFF the bench. Rapists should be given the maximum, not protected because "awww, poor rich/white/athlete will be ruined by the scandal!" What an appalling excuse for a human being and even more appalling excuse for a judge. Judges like him are the reason we have rapists walking among us thinking they won't be punished and are free to abuse women as they wish.

Deserves more than hell. How can I give someone zero stars? I can't even believe he has this job in the first place.

1

5823. other

I didn't want to give a star, but a 0 star rating is not an option. I've been reading about the Brock Turner case for the last few hours and I'm physically sick in regards to the sentence; in particular the reasons this piece of human garbage cited for the "slap on the wrist" joke of a sentence he handed out. More than 6 months would negatively impact his life?!? No prior criminal record?!? OK, in that case, rape is less bad. I have a degree in English and I cannot find the words to articulate how disgusted, appalled, and heartbroken I feel about this. I wonder if this piece of crap judge would feel the same way if it were his daughter found unconscious and mostly naked behind a dumpster. I truly hope that this mockery of justice haunts him for the rest of his life.

1

Get this bozo off the bench.

1

5827. other

It is CRIMINAL that this judge would sentence only a few months to a rapist because he is worried how it will affect him. What about the effect for the victim? She had no choice. This is no justice. This judge sends a message that we cannot trust someone in place to make sure justice is served and he should be removed from his bench.

1

5831. other

The man should be ashamed of himself and removed immediately! An absolute disgrace of a Judge!

6029. attorney (private practice)

The notion of a lenient sentence for a rapist who showed remorse for his crime, who was an otherwise decent human being, and who was young enough to be rehabilitated rather than punished is one thing. However doing it for an unrepentant rapist, a boy who, based on the words of his own father ("20 minutes of action"?!?) has been raised in a household that considers women pieces of meat to be used and abused by men, who insisted that he'd done nothing wrong because his victim "wanted it", and will likely, based on this, be a reoffender, is sickening. I only hope that if and when he does it again, his next judge is one with some character, and gives him the punishment his crimes deserve.

1

6034. other

Lowest possible rating for a judge who believes men convicted of three felonies after raping an unconscious woman do not deserve to serve sentences longer than 6 months. Mr. Persky is the reason why countless rapes will go unreported and men and boys who rape will be further convinced of their "right" to commit rape without fear of punishment. This judge is a disgrace to the profession and a perpetuator of rape culture. He has no business being in a courtroom.

1

Giving 6 months to a convicted rapist. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

1

5822. other

Persky's leniency on a convicted rapist Brock Turner of only 6 months is infuriating. He claimed he didn't want prison to become a bad influence on him and thought he wasn't a risk anymore. What about the risk to the victim when he raped an unconscious woman and was only stopped when two students scared him off? Judge Persky's sentencing is a reason why so many women don't go forward with their rapes, because they have to relive their victimhood over and over again, for the medical examination, for the lawyers, for the newspapers and all it amounts to in this case is a minor slap on the wrist for the person who caused them so much trauma to begin with. What is it about male athletes that makes everyone so soft on their heinous rapes on women? CNN had the same kind of reporting on the Stubenville rapists.

1

Any judge who would absolve a rapist with a 6 month sentence based on the fact that the rapist was a Stanford athlete should never serve again as a judge in any case of sexual assault. Voting for this man is voting against women, your mom, sister, and wife.

1

5841. other

6 months in county jail for a rapist because of the "impact" it would have on him? This judge is furthering rape culture and is doing a disservice to women.

1

5842. other

I am shocked and terrified for any woman who may cross the convicted rapist's path in the near future after his release.. This sentence is useless and justice has not been served for the victim.. Nor does the sentence protect this from happening to future victims, as he will be still a very young man with no remorse, and a more disgruntled and mal-adjusted one at that, after his release..The judge is not fit for the job and dishonors its purpose.

1

5843. other

The judge gave this insultingly short sentence because he didn't want to impact the future of this rapist? This sentence will surely impact the life of the victim, because it says that this criminal's prospective future is worth more consideration than the entire well-being of his victim. Disgusting. How is this justice?

1

5847. other

I'm genuinely baffled by the judge's excessive concern for the impact that the consequences of his actions would have on a convicted rapist. Perhaps, as the dispenser of justice, he should strive not to protect the guilty from consequences. He is entirely unfit for the bench.

1

5848. other

Persky should be voted off the bench just based on his sentencing of Brock Turner. I shudder to think of how many other criminals have benefited from his rulings.

1

5849. other

To give only 6 months in jail to a convicted rapist is a travesty! The guy is a criminal and a big danger to our society; in 6 months he will be out again. I guess this Judge doesn't have daughters, sisters... not even a mother, because he is not concerned about what this criminal is going to do after serving so little time. If this Judge cannot understand the seriousness of this crime, he shouldn't be a Judge!

1

5850. other

That this judge let a rapist walk with 6 months because it would be a "hardship" on the rapist is a shredding of the legal system. He sends a message that his court has one standard of justice for rich white rapists in college and another for everyone else. He should be de-barred.

1

No mention of the victim's future or the fact that the sex offender Brock Allen Turner was unrepentant through the entire trail and still refuses to admit that he did anything wrong. He's currently up for re-election - don't let him get away with promoting rape culture. Vote him out.

1

5859. other

The judge was reported as defending Brock Turner's 6 month sentence because it would "have a severe impact" on the convicted. This is absurd. Brock Turner was convicted of 3 felony sexual assault charges and has refused to admit any real wrong doing. His privilege should have no bearing on his sentencing. What kind of message does this kind of sentencing send about society's views of sexual assault? I am completely disgusted.

1

5870. other

Having had this event brought to my attention I looked at the judge's experience (I use the title of judge shamefully in this case) in his bio for his election he stated 'I became a criminal prosecutor for the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office, where I now prosecute sex crimes and hate crimes. I focus on the prosecution of sexually violent predators, working to keep the most dangerous sex offenders in custody in mental hospitals.' - direct quote, his words, while running for election in 2002. He also graduated from Stanford. If I were an alum of Stanford I would be embarrassed beyond belief. If I were any of this imposter's professors, I would ask that his degree(s) be invalidated. He is truly a fraud. I am sorry young lady, there are so many good people out there that are honorable officers of the court. This person, certainly cannot be give the honor of either the title of judge, or of man, especially after bragging of his background.

1

A rapist is a rapist, regardless of the color of their skin or whether you think he is a "good boy" or not. Good boys don't violently rape unconscious girls behind dumpsters then run away when caught. This sentence is a travesty.

5922. other

This judge should not be allowed to rule over any cases. A man was convicted of rape. 3 felonies. This judge is a disgrace. He sentenced a rapist to a light sentence fearing jail might have a bad impact on the rapist??????? What about the impact on the victim. What if the judge had a daughter and she was the victim, would he still consider what "impact" a rightful punishment on a convicted felon would have? Shake my head. He is a disgrace and should not be re-elected.

1

5926. other

I am not sure how someone found guilty and the minimum sentence is 6 years receives 6 months. It is despicable. Jail is supposed to be hard- it is a punishment for breaking the law. How about how life is for the victim? This judge is disgusting! I did not even want to give one star...

1

5927. other

If I could give zero starts, I would. Sentencing a rapist to 6 months because it might "severely impact his life" completely negates the SEVERE impact his actions had on his victim. If the voters in his district have any sense, they will vote him out. And if the ABA has any sense, they will look into his actions and sanction him, investigate all his other cases and possibly disbar him should they find other such blatant disregard,.

The sentencing of Brock Turner shoes extremely poor judgement, and I say this even though I consider myself an advocate for the rights of defendants and convicted felons! How can our justice system be seen as legitimate anywhere in the world when an affluent white college student who is convicted after a lengthy and fair trial is sentenced to 6 months for a VIOLENT crime???

1

6062. other

I am not a party on this case. However I am a fellow human being, a mother, a woman and a staunch advocate in all things "just". This case unfortunately is all too common. Judges who receive bribery to "fix" sentences, to sway the arm of the law. The sports Industy while also harboring these kind of big money agreements to protect and covet criminals (both male and female) is not the first group to do something so despicable. However!!!! Despite all the big money involved to discredit this woman. (including the not so coincidental history of the judge being a sports alumnus from Stanford and now devaluing the sentences he gives their sporting criminals) a man Brock Turner was found guilty of 3 FELONIES by a jury. Justice may be blind at times, but this case had the blindfold ripped off, finger ed, raped, and had the rape proven and the Judge in his "infinite wisdom" held down the arms of justice, tied the blindfold back on her eyes and told her through his actions that even HE is above (or on top of her) the law. Who holds HIM legally accountable for undersentencing? It begs legal action to remove this judge from office, reevaluate all the cases he ruled over, and show we as a people will not accept judges who are bribed or influenced by personal bias to ignore the fair and proven sentences our sons and daughters (as tragic and poor their choices may be) have coming to them. This judge just happened to be caught....by the world!!!! Justice may blind and unfair (their are actually innocent people in prison that prove that). However, it was leveled by the jury this time and this judge FAILED in his sworn duties to uphold the law. If it were a low income man (regardless of ethnicity) found guilty of THREE FELONIES. I am 100% sure they would be in prison right now. The poor men and women are not currently able to embrace prestigious financially driven opportunities like getting a judge to ignore the obvious. What say you? Why are dishonest leaders (in all walks of life really) allowed to continue to "rule"!!!!!

Convicting a rapist on three felony counts and sentencing the minimum, or less, is unacceptable. This kind of miscarriage of justice is what keeps people from reporting rapes and other sexual assaults. Sentences should reflect the severity of a crime. Allowing a convicted rapist to go free after a minimal sentence and no rehabilitation is irresponsible and reckless. There is no place for a judge who is more concerned for a convicted perpetrator than an innocent victim. Resignation would be an appropriate response to this travesty. This judge should not be re-elected.

1

5882. other

This judge is perpetrating rape culture. The justice system already work in favour of the abuser rather then the victim, and even in a situation where he has been proven clearly wrong the judge has decided to undermine his own justice system.

1

5888. other

The sentencing done of the Brock Turner case makes my stomach turn. My father has been an attorney his whole life, and I am a teacher. Where I come from judges value the safety of their community over protecting the rich and privileged. Brock Turner raped and brutalized an unconscious woman, both with his own member and with objects he picked up off the ground. His victim turned to the justice system for help, and this is the best she can expect? Unacceptable. This case should be appealed by the state, and Judge Persky should be removed from the bench. There may have been a time in Judge Persky's life where protecting the guilty from justice was something he could get away with, his little back door dealings on behalf of the violently and criminally insane who have money and attend his Alma Mater, but those days are over. This story is global news now, and the public simply WILL NOT STAND for judges like this putting the public at large in danger. Turner is a dangerous person, he has proven that by the very twisted severity of his crime, and by the complete lack of remorse he has shown. I personally will not stop petitioning and fighting until this judge is dealt with accordingly for his gross and criminal negligence.

It is rare I disgust a Judge. I usually respect their decisions. This Judge deserves zero respect. This Judge, Judge Persky, makes me sick to my stomach. Judge Persky, the Stanford Alum, just had a lot of feeling and emotion for Brock Turner. Maybe it is because he is a Stanford Alum? I don't know. Maybe he was paid off in some way. Or maybe this Judge is just ok with what Brock Turner did to this woman behind a dumpster. Maybe this Judge thinks Brock deserves such a short sentence because of his "swim times." The Judge doesn't want to "harm" Brock. That is sick. I hope this "Judge" isn't a Judge for much longer. It is MY opinion that Judge Persky lacks any morals whatsoever. Judge Persky if Brock Turner didn't do anything wrong and if he doesn't deserve to be "harmed" via consequences of reasonable jail time - then you should have taken the Jury's GUILTY verdict and thrown it out and let him walk with zero jail days. If you're going to hold this swimmers hand - go all the way. FYI to Judge Persky and any others in deep denial: Brock Turner is NOT and will NEVER BE swimming in the Olympics. Smh.

1

5892. other

I'm not opposed to the logic of short sentences enabling better rehabilitation of offenders, but in the case of Brock Turner I don't think this applies. The man has never acknowledged that he did anything wrong, which is surely a red flag for the risk of him reoffending. In this case, the need to protect the public from this monster should outweigh that of rehabilitation. This is a shockingly lenient sentence, and should be reviewed if at all possible.

1

5893. other

How could you, Judge Persky? Brock Turner's sentence was an appalling, sickening, grave miscarriage of justice.

"In June 2016, Persky was heavily criticized for giving Stanford rapist Brock Turner a commuted sentence of six months in jail after he had been found guilty of rape, because it was deemed jail would have a "severe impact" on him. At Stanford , Judge Persky had been captain of the lacrosse team, so the light sentence was seen as sympathy for a fellow Stanford athlete." https://www.everipedia.com/aaron-persky/

1

5897. other

Lighter sentencing should be given to those who show a sense of remorse and potential rehabilitation. Brock Turner has been given a green light to become a serial rapist with his leniency and "Good O'le Boy" slap on the wrist. He has placed the value and quality of life of this privileged, white athlete above that of the victim and justice has not been served. Judge Persky should be taken off the bench.

1

5898. other

You are despicable, a complete waste to the criminal justice system. I hope the tears and late-night screams of your victim HAUNT you for the rest of your life. 1

As a UK criminal solicitor, I have seen my fair share of (both too-severe and) too-lenient sentencing. Nothing in my career has been as pathetically misjudged, biased and frankly nepotistically privileged as this man's handling of the Brock Turner case. He is an affront to the Californian legal system, and to all even half-decent people.

1

5905. other

It's time to remove this judge from the bench. To give a rapist who has been convicted by a jury of his peers of three felony counts a six month COUNTY JAIL sentence followed by a year of probation (much less than the minimum sentence allowed), all because a harsher sentence would impact the rapist's life too much is a miscarriage of justice. Really? The rapist who 12 jurors said yes to 3 felony counts and we are going to worry about how harsh we are to him? How everything might ruin his life goals and aspirations? Not the victim's? Shame on you for not doing your job! And time to get someone who will!

1

5906. other

How do we give less than one star? That is what this judge deserves.

1

5907. other

I do not condone revenge. I do condone justice. Justice should be for the victim, although it can, of course, never make up for the harm already inflicted. Justice should clearly indicate to the perpetrator and other potential perpetrators what sort of acts are unequivocally condemned in our society. The decision of this judge to limit a convicted rapist's prison term to 6 months out of concern for possible negative effects a longer sentence would have on the young rapist is, in my eyes, curiously, even deviantly, partial to the "poor young rapist." I do not understand. I strongly disagree and suggest an overview of what I believe was a miscarriage of justice. Surely justice does still have a place in our legal system?

1

5908. other

When a judge bends over backwards to accommodate a convicted rapist, it's time for that judge to step down and do some serious soul-searching because he has lost his way.

1

5909. other

This judge essentially negated what 12 jury members agreed upon without any reasonable doubt. Honorable is not a title he should get to employ. Tragic...

1

5910. other

So this is how our judicial system works now? We don't look at guilt, innocence, the severity of the crime, or remorse, but rather, how much the convicted person stands to lose?

1

5911. other

You should be drummed out of your position. Shame on you for giving a rapist such a light sentence. I guess being white and rich, oh, and male, gives one the right to do whatever they wish to women. You are a prime example of what is wrong with our judicial system.

1

5912. other

Poor excuse for a judge. He gave a rapist 6 months plus credit for time served because the rapist is a privileged white Stanford student, has parents with money,, and feels sorry for the poor guy because he had to give up his swimmers scholarship because of all this court hassle. Justice was NOT served and this terrible judge was to blame.

1

5913. other

Judge Persky, you are a disgrace to the legal profession. You are unfit to be on the bench. Step down now.

1

5915. other

I am absolutely appalled that a rapist was given 6 months in jail. If he were a man of color, the outcome would have been a lot different. The law needs to apply to everyone equally.

1

5916. other

This judge strongly endorses rape culture, and is more concerned about the effects a prison sentence would have on a convicted rapist than about the lifelong effects being a survivor of sexual assault has on the victim. His sympathetic attitude toward the assailant in the Stanford case clearly shows his misogyny and bias.

1

5917. other

This judge loves to make sure rapists aren't too severely "impacted" by their sentences. ESPECIALLY if they're white, talented athletes.

1

5918. other

As a woman, I feel this judge does not serve me or other females, does not do his duty to make sure justice is served to female victims. He should be removed from the bench and be disbarred. His words made it clear that in cases of rape, the "impact" on the convicted man's life FAR outweighs that of any female victim. He clearly stated this. There is no way to defend allowing this man to serve as a judge when he implicitly states that he does not feel women deserve justice.

1

5919. other

For allowing young, affluent, white, male athletes to rape, and fail to hold them accountable due to their stature as an athlete, causing further harm to the victim and failing to protect the public, this judge has failed to uphold their oath and the laws of the State of California.

I am a concernes American citizen. The ruling that Honor Persky delivered, a lessened sentence to a talented swimming rapist, sets a poor precedent. I understand not wanting to destroy a man,s life, but clearly dragging an unconcscious women behind a dumpster to rape her is sadistic. This wasnt in the murky category of date rape. It wasnt accidental and the perpetrator will most likely do it again. Therefore, the judgement was poor.

Even more appalling was his reason for giving such a light sentence - because, as the judge explained, a longer sentence would have had a "negative impact" on the rapist, a white educated man with a future in swimming. What about the "negative impact" Mr. Brock Turner had on his rape victim? She is still suffering and will be forever emotionally scarred by what Mr. Turner did to her. And he still hasn't even admitted that what he did was wrong. I think he should be getting extra jail time because he's not even taking accountability for what he did to her. Let's hope that after 6 months he doesn't do this to another woman when he gets out!

Appalling abuse of power & privilege. Get this guy out of the courtroom immediately. There should be an option for a no-star review.

Absolutely appalled that this judge gave a rapist, who was caught by 2 witnesses raping an unconscious woman, a sentence of 6 months in a county jail. This man belongs in a federal prison locked away for years.

1

5938. other

Did not uphold the verdict integrity of the jury who convicted an unrepentant Brock Turner of raping an unconscious girl. Even more appalling was his reason for giving such a "wrist slap" light sentence - because, as the judge explained, a longer sentence would have had a "negative impact" on the rapist, a privileged, white, educated, male with an athletic future. This is a green light to all such college predictors and sets our campuses in even deeper peril.

I witnessed a tragic loss of justice with a six month sentence for the convicted rapist facing three felonies. This makes me sick. Vote this fake judge out of office on Tuesday. Santa Clara can do better. Don't feel bad about wrecking his life, Aaron Persky can still be a judge on TV.

1

5940. other

Brock was caught in the act. He pleaded innocent. He has shown no remorse except for what has happened to his own reputation. What he did was base and violent and wretched. What the judge did was protect him. Unforgivable incompetence and inhuman service as a judge.

1

Would that it were it possible to give the zero star rating that this man deserves. He is a disgrace to his profession.

1

5943. other

In a case where a woman is raped, the man is found guilty on 3 counts, the judge gives 6 months to reduce the impact this crime has on HIS life. This judge needs to be removed. While the victim of this crime has to live with what he did for her whole life, this little Sh*t is being taught that raping a woman while she is passed out is A-okay. This should have been given the max sentence due to his utter refusal to have any remorse for his actions. A man like this is just going to commit this crime again and that is all on this judge's shoulders.

1

5946. other

“A prison sentence would have a severe impact on him," Persky said at Turner's sentencing on Thursday. As it should! You just sent a clear message to all rape victims to not even bother with attempting to obtain justice. He committed a VIOLENT crime, he should be locked up with violent criminals, period. And not in any county jail, he should be in PRISON for many YEARS. You don't deserve to be on the bench if these are the kinds of decisions you render.

1

5947. attorney (government, civil matters)

This "judge" has horrible judgment. Sentencing a young man who sexually assaulted an intoxicated young woman to 6 months in county jail because the young man is a gifted athlete? Horrific. I hope all women, and all men who have mothers, wives, daughters and/or sisters, vote him out of office.

1

5950. other

Should not be a judge if he's going to give a convicted (by unanimous vote) rapist a 6 month sentence because it would have too much of a "severe impact" on his life. The rapist attended Stanford University, was a star athlete, and is not of color. The extreme leniency of Persky's sentence for his fellow Stanford athlete is horrendous to see. This sets an example for others in the future as well - it should not be this easy to get off the hook for committing rape.

1

Outraged at the sentencing of Brock Allen, all this shows people is that money and being an upper class citizen gets you off the hook! This is why victims stay silent all too often..

I was shocked and disgusted to read about the sentence handed to a violent rapist convicted of 3 felony counts. 6 months is not acceptable and sends a clear message that rape is ok on your watch. This is a miscarriage of justice and a failure to protect future victims by reinforcing his disregard for consent and acceptable behaviour.

1

Your weak sentencing of Brock Turner is indicative of how little we, as a society, value the victim over the prepertrator in rape cases. How can you sleep at night knowing that you have helped entrench this further?

1

5992. other

I'm a private citizen, outraged that this judge concluded anything longer than a six-month sentence would severely impact Brock Turner. How would the judge feel if it had been his daughter?!? It is wrong for a judge to downplay the severity of such a violation just because treating him with appropriate severity would negatively impact his life's ambitions. It's a clear case of privileging his life over the victim's, and it is wrong. He should be ashamed as he is a discredit to the bench. I can only pray he will NOT be reelected. Disgusting!

1

5993. other

Way to stick together with your Alma Mater and only charge a 3 felon rapist to 6 months in county jail because it might be terrible for him. I'm sure Stanford is very proud of you for giving this rapist a slap on the hand.

1

5994. other

After the Brock Turner sentencing, I would be curious to see this Judge's sentencing record specific to privileged defendants. Brock showed no remorse, took zero accountability, his statements were inconsistent, all things the judge should have taken into consideration during sentencing. How can you give a six month sentence to someone convicted of three felonies? I'd like to scream abuse of power, but that may be extreme. I do think it's fair to say his judgement is questionable, and for a Judge, that should be grounds for dismissal. This is truly a miscarriage of justice.

1

5998. other

Disgraceful dismissal of such a horrendous crime due to potential personal loss for rapist, rather than justified punishment which was the least the victim deserved after what was taken from her. Not fit to carry out the job he is trusted with.

Judge Persky has proved himself unfit to judge cases with female victims and make defendants. To imply that a swimming career takes precedence over a violent act is absurd. I believe the sentence would have been more punitive if the defendant were not a Standford student and white. I shudder to think what your sentence would have been if the victim had been a non college attending person of color. You should recuse yourself immediately.

I am a woman, a daughter, a sister, a mother. I am disgusted at the leniency of your sentencing to the rapist Brock Turner. Not a threat to the community? You failed woman everywhere.

1

You sentence a rapist to six months because he has a bright swimming career and no priors? What message does this send to other young men who think consent is optional? Disgraceful sentencing.

1

6009. other

Disgusting and physically repulsive sentencing. If he had instead had been able to empathize with the survivor because he knew of family or friends who had undoubtedly been sexually assaulted instead of empathizing with the rapist bc they had both played sports at Stanfird, this would have been different. Who cares that he can swim quickly when he was found unanimously guilty of rape/sexual assault? He permanently affected the lives of the survivor, her family, her friends, the swedes who found her, and others - why should his life not be permanently affected by the decisions he made (and feels no remorse for)? If he had been black or Latino, would the punishment have been harsher?

There is nothing honorable about this judge. I have a daughter who was raped. Thank you for again showing our women that they don't matter, and that white, privileged males come first in terms of justice. You sentenced the rapist to 6 months, but the victim was sentenced for life. Sleep well.

1

6027. other

Unforgivable, you should be ashamed of yourself. I have witnessed as a Paramedic more cases than I'd thought I would see of sexual assault and other crimes and to think of the rapist getting away with such a horrible act which affects these victims so profoundly on every level is just devastating. Many of these victims do not lead normal lives, they have problems with emotions with self worth and try to commit suicide. It is enraging what a joke of a sentence he was given or rewarded with.

Deeply disappointed that a white Stanford alumni judge ("Honorable" Aaron Persky) gave such an insignificant sentence to a white Stanford athlete (Brock Turner) for the inexcusable, horrific acts that Mr. Turner took part in by violating an unconscious woman, then showing no meaningful remorse or comprehension for his actions at his trial. Judge Persky should be extremely ashamed of protecting this unrepentant violent offender from meaningful consequences. The judge's verdict in this case will certainly contribute to the sense of entitlement and safety from consequences of other rapists, just as it reminds all women of how little value their lives and dignity matter to those who are supposed to uphold the law. May at least the judge feel the consequences of this terrible decision in the upcoming election!

1

As a survivor of rape, I'm so disgusted and appalled by Judge Persky's ruling. 6 months is a JOKE! Persky must be a golf buddy of Turner's father. Brock Allen Turner is living the good life while his victim will FOREVER be looking over her shoulder. Judge Persky, you took an oath to protect and serve. The victims that is, not the offenders!!! Get off the bench immediately and join your pal Turner in jail! You should be forced to sit thru years of group therapy with rape victims. Then you'll know impact! Maybe, just maybe, you'll be able to find your heart again. RESIGN from office! NOW!!!

The sentence delivered in the Brock Turner case was a severe miscarriage of justice and made a mockery of the legal system. As a sexual assault survivor and lawyer I am honestly appalled that he would give weight to a 20 year old boy's swimming career over the trauma experienced by a 23 year old girl who was assaulted. There has obviously been misconduct. He should be disbarred.

1

As a white male WASP, I'm disgusted that this judge further propagated this countries reprehensible rape culture and white privilege in one mind numbingly stupid ruling. I am a(n)... WOMAN, who lives in a country where a young white man like Brock Turner gets to walk free with a slap on the wrist after brutally raping a young woman behind a DUMPSTER, because Judge Aaron Persky decided that my safety and the safety of other women is less important than the swimming career of a dangerous sexual predator. I am a(n)... individual who is outraged by the decision of this judge to let a convicted, violent rapist walk free after slightly more than a college semester--barely deterred from his course of study or his pursuit of swimming excellence. Perhaps Persky saw something of himself in the young man--could imagine himself guilty of the same crime, even--and let his bias influence his sentencing? Perhaps he is a true misogynist and thinks all women are temptresses sent by the devil to undermine the potential of men on the road to greatness? Perhaps he was so impressed by Turner's prowess as a swimmer that he imagined such virile power surging through the young man's body would surely overtake him and compel him to such acts of sexual indiscretion. How could he be blamed for his biological urges when he was clearly a young Olympian man-God in the making? What other rational explanations for Persky's sentencing could be possible? What else explains his complete disregard for the significance of the life Turner impacted beyond repair through his "20 minutes of action"? This judge is a disgusting example of a human being and should face severe consequences for upholding the law in such a perverted manner as to render it meaningless.
