Judge showed up very late for court (over an hour). Baliff brought cases back to him to review before coming out. Seemed agitated to be there at all. Ruled against a demurrer on a retaliatory eviction case. Did not inform anyone to give notice, and defendant did not waive rights to give notice. Later when asking a court clerk about Notice and time frame to Answer -he told clerk to tell the defendant "take it up in court." He also tried to not accept a Cross-Compaint.
File a 170.6 if you are assigned to Kyle Brodie's courtroom with a criminal case where the defendant has a chance at trial. Often favors the prosecution by overruling meritorious defense objections while granting prosecution objections that do not have legal justification or support.
Very unfair. We have guardianship of a family member and bio parents have slipped up numerous times in the past 5 years. Judge Brodie commended bio Mom for admitting to be using drugs. We wanted visits to be modified from unsupervised to supervised. Bio-parents refused to get drug tested, which is part of the court orders. The child is only 4 years old, and bio-parents stopped showing up for visits. I don't understand how many chances he is going to give her parents! She deserves to be safe. She cant protect herself or speak up for herself yet. It is our obligation to make sure she is safe. I wish he could at least hear us out, and see things from both sides
