Judge (an undeserved title) Alva has an over-the-top bias for Hispanics. Given equal standing in facts, he will always give the positive ruling to the Hernandez' or the Garcia's over the Smith's and the Jones or the Singh's and Washington's'. He is rude, condescending, and habitually tardy. He says that he "runs" on "Alva time." If someone is on his 9am calendar, they may be lucky if their case is heard before noon. Frequently, Alva's courtroom has several cases from his morning calendar carried over to his afternoon calendar. He has no regard for the time of attorneys, social workers, court staff, or even families waiting in the hallway for their case to be called. Children are with their parents waiting for hours. The children's cries and whines can be hear in the courtroom. He is highly narcissistic and his word is worth nothing. He makes rulings and gives instructions to returnn in two weeks. Upon returning, he doesn't even address the original issue and says something different. He is a mixed bag of extreme-extemes: "I'll give you just one more chance." Sounds great but he's said it five times already. No one puts any credence into what he says he will do. On the other end of the spectrum, he makes abrupt rulings that appear to be "knee jerk" reactions only to have to eat his words the following week. The joke in the courtroom is when he says to minors: "You're one of my kids." Yet when one of "his kids" gave him an invitation to her high school graduation, he did not go; she was very disappointed and disillusioned. She felt she had someone who really cared only to learn that he was no different than her own mother and father: liars. This has happened multiple times. Mr. Alva, it is time to retire to your land in Lindenl
He seperated full blooded sisters purposely. He destroyed two families lives. There was no need. This after CPS recommended the toddler sisters should stay together. They are 17 months apart. One legally adopted age 3 years and the little one in foster care age 19 months. What he did is criminal. No regard to family. There's a special place in hell for what he did.
I have known Judge Alva for years. He is a true American success story. The accusations I have read above alleging bias are complete nonsense. Alva is and always has been humble and respectful. It is not easy to adjudicate family law cases, most of the time the reason they are in court is because the parties lifestyle choices.
